The primary objective of the FHBRO is to assist federal government departments in the protection of their heritage buildings, in accordance with the Treasury Board Policy on Management of Real Property. The policy applies to all federal government departments which administer real property, but not to Crown Corporations. Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada - Gatineau, QC
Since 1919, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada has been mandated to provide advice to the Government of Canada, through the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, on the designation of places, persons and events that have marked and shaped Canada. Every year, new subjects are added to the list of designations. Site visitors can submit a nomination of a person, place, or event for designation under the National Program of Historical Commemoration, or request a review of an existing designation.
