Advantages of metal fences

  • I've been thinking about switching to a metal fence for my backyard. We originally went with wood, but after only a few years, it started to wear down. Between the weather and needing constant maintenance, I'm starting to wonder if metal might be a better option for longevity. I like the look of wood, but it's becoming a hassle to keep up with. Does anyone have experience with metal fences? I'm curious if they're worth the investment.

  • I can see where you are going with that one! We had a similar problem with our old wooden fence – it first looked beautiful, but after a couple of winters, it got ugly. Three years ago, we had the metal fence, and honestly, having it has been such a blessing. Not having to repair it every year, it is still shiny, like it is new. If you are in Terrace you may want to look at some local ones – the Fence Contractors in Terrace, BC helped us find a fine example. And you do not have to waste a lot of time maintaining the metal like how you would have to with the wooden fence.

  • I’m just browsing through and saw this conversation. Fences are definitely something I haven’t given much thought to yet, but it's cool to see how much difference the material can make in terms of maintenance and durability. I live in a different area, but reading these experiences gives me some ideas in case I ever need to upgrade my fence. I’ve always liked the idea of something low maintenance. Appreciate all the insights shared here!
